About Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund
The Backcountry Wilderness Area Fund partners with the Highlands Ranch Community Association to support conservation, environmental education, volunteer stewardship, and public access across the Backcountry’s roughly 8,200 acres and more than 26 miles of natural-surface trails.
The Fund underwrites free and low-cost programs — from preschool nature activities and Camp Backcountry to adult nature walks and interpretive hikes — and supports habitat projects, trail maintenance, and wildlife stewardship close to the South Denver metro area.
Recent activity includes summer youth programming, community fundraisers (Back the Backcountry), corporate and county sponsorships, and ongoing habitat and volunteer initiatives serving thousands of visitors annually.
