RETINA FOUNDATION OF THE SOUTHWEST
To prevent vision loss and restore sight through innovative research and treatment for pediatric eye conditions, inherited retinal diseases, and age-related macular degeneration.
About RETINA FOUNDATION OF THE SOUTHWEST
The Retina Foundation of the Southwest is an independent, Dallas-based vision research center founded in 1975 that focuses on preventing vision loss and restoring sight through translational laboratory research and patient-facing clinical trials. Its scientific teams work on gene therapy, gene editing, stem cell approaches, artificial intelligence and virtual-reality tools to diagnose, monitor and develop treatments for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) and pediatric eye conditions.
The organization operates multiple laboratories and serves as a regional clinical-trial and patient-care hub that provides free vision assessments and genetic testing/counseling while partnering with academic centers, biotechnology companies and government funders. In recent years it has expanded clinical trial capacity, published and contributed to high-profile clinical research, and launched targeted programs to accelerate diagnostics and personalized therapies for patients and families affected by retinal disease.
