About HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA

Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA — Future Health Professionals) is an international student organization headquartered in Southlake, Texas that develops leadership, technical skills, and career-readiness for middle school, secondary, and postsecondary students pursuing health careers. HOSA operates a nationwide network of state and local chapters, runs annual leadership and competitive events (including the International Leadership Conference and Washington Leadership Academy), and connects members with healthcare industry partners, scholarships, and experiential opportunities. The organization is an established career-and-technical student organization (founded in the 1970s and tax-exempt since the early 1980s) that partners with major healthcare and education organizations to expand the pipeline of future health professionals.

Large national reach and scale

Since its founding in the 1970s HOSA has grown into a multi‑association organization with reported membership in the hundreds of thousands and thousands of local chapters, serving middle school through collegiate students preparing for health careers.

High-impact annual conferences

Recent International Leadership Conferences drew tens of thousands of attendees and competitors (the 2024 ILC reported over 11,000 competitors and more than 12,000 members, advisors, judges, and guests), providing competitive experience, leadership sessions, and industry networking.

Substantial scholarship support

HOSA and its partners distributed large scholarship awards to members in recent years (HOSA reported over $6.7 million in partner scholarship support during 2023 and awarded scholarship funds at the 2024 ILC).
