About LATINO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CENTER

The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a statewide, Latino-focused Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) headquartered in Saint Paul, Minnesota. LEDC provides mission-driven lending, bilingual business development and technical assistance, training workshops, and regenerative agriculture support to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain businesses. LEDC combines capital (small business and commercial lending), culturally grounded advisory services, and place-based initiatives (including Plaza del Sol and the East Side Enterprise Center) to build wealth and economic stability for Latino and immigrant communities across Minnesota. The organization also runs the Latino Scholarship Fund to support postsecondary opportunities for Latino students.

Notable achievements

Plaza del Sol: Food Hall & Incubator

Developed and advanced Plaza del Sol, a multi-level cultural marketplace and small-business incubator that includes a food hall, commissary kitchen, and event space to create affordable, culturally centered commercial space and support Latino food entrepreneurs.

Latino Scholarship Fund (expanded awards)

Re-established and expanded the Latino Scholarship Fund in recent cycles, awarding multiple scholarships (up to $5,000 each) to Latino students pursuing postsecondary education and pairing awards with mentorship and career supports.

Organizational financial scale (FY2024)

Demonstrated sustained growth and program scale in FY2024 with reported revenue of approximately $4.41 million, total assets exceeding $20 million, and program-focused spending that supported expanded lending and services across Greater Minnesota.
