About PREGNANCY LOSS AND INFANT DEATH ALLIANCE

Pregnancy Loss and Infant Death Alliance (PLIDA) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) membership organization founded in 2004 that supports health care practitioners and parent advocates working with families who experience pregnancy loss, stillbirth, newborn death and related perinatal bereavement. PLIDA's work focuses on education, practice guidance, advocacy, and creating a professional network to promote consistent, compassionate, evidence-based care. PLIDA operates a suite of member services (including Ask PLIDA expert consultation, quarterly webinars, continuing education offerings, and member networking channels) and convenes the biennial International Perinatal Bereavement Conference (IPBC), which brings clinicians, researchers and parent advocates together for training and knowledge exchange. In recent years PLIDA has run regular webinars and conferences (IPBC events in 2022 and 2024) and is actively organizing IPBC 2026 (scheduled for May 13–16, 2026 in New Orleans).

Notable achievements

International Perinatal Bereavement Conference (IPBC)

PLIDA organizes the biennial IPBC, a flagship international conference that provides continuing education, research presentations, clinical best practices and parent perspectives; recent conferences were held in 2022 and 2024 and registration is open for IPBC 2026.

PCORI Engagement Award-supported scholarships

PLIDA has partnered with funders (including a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute engagement award) to offer conference scholarships and expand access for parent advocates, researchers and clinicians to attend IPBC and related training.

Expanded member education and consultation

In the last 2–3 years PLIDA has expanded its webinar series, member-only 'Ask PLIDA' consultation service and continuing-education offerings, and secured continuing education approval for upcoming conferences to support workforce competency in perinatal bereavement care.
