STEFANIE NELSON DANCE GROUP

Founded in 2000 and based in New York City, Stefanie Nelson Dance Group (SNDg) is a contemporary performance ensemble led by Artistic Director Stefanie Nelson that produces original, multidisciplinary dance works presented nationally and internationally. The company maintains a strong emphasis on collaboration with visual artists, composers, and community partners, and has presented work at venues including Joyce SoHo, LaMama Moves!, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Jacob’s Pillow and international festivals in Italy, Canada, and Mexico. SNDg runs sustained community and educational programs: Dance Italia (an international summer festival in Lucca, Italy), EVERYONE DANCE (an inclusive program in partnership with AHRC NYC offering free weekly classes and performance opportunities for dancers with disabilities), and Girls Move Us (workshops empowering adolescent girls). In recent years the organization has received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and other public and private funders, and has continued presenting community workshops, residencies, and public performances (notably funded projects in 2023–2025).
