About Flyaway Productions

Flyaway Productions is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) arts organization that makes site‑specific, off‑the‑ground dances and public art with an explicit intersectional feminist and social‑justice focus. The company combines performance, community coalition‑building, and education (including the GIRLFLY youth program) to bring dance into neighborhoods and public spaces where social conflicts are located. In recent years Flyaway completed its Decarceration Trilogy (2017–2023), continued the GIRLFLY youth scholarship and training program (training ~20 teens each summer), and secured major public and private support for new public‑facing works — including a San Francisco Arts Commission grant to produce DOWN ON THE CORNER in the Tenderloin (FY25/2025).

GIRLFLY youth training program

Sustained an award‑winning youth program that provides intensive apparatus‑based dance training and activism education for ~20 girls and gender‑expansive teens each summer, paying participant stipends and linking movement practice to civic engagement.

Major public arts commission (SFAC) — DOWN ON THE CORNER

Awarded a $100,000 San Francisco Arts Commission grant (FY25/2025) to produce DOWN ON THE CORNER, a Tenderloin‑based public art project combining site‑specific dance, original music, and video projection that centers transgender visibility and prison systems change.
