About ART SEED (ArtSeed)
ArtSeed is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) arts education nonprofit that runs intergenerational, multidisciplinary visual-arts programs linking professional artists with youth, veterans, and other vulnerable community members. The organization operates studio and exhibition programming in San Francisco and emphasizes hands-on instruction, public exhibitions, and mentorship to develop arts skills and leadership. In the past 2–3 years ArtSeed has continued a mix of in-person and online programming: seasonal intensive workshops, weekly focus groups, the Veterans ArtLab, community open studios, and its annual Presidio exhibition series. Recent activity (2023–2024) included a summer Fine Arts Intensive, a large Presidio exhibition, ongoing online lessons and lesson-packet distribution, and a formal apprenticeship/internship program that supported youth and student engagement. ArtSeed is fiscally active and donor-facing: it holds recognized tax-exempt status, reports annual Form 990 filings, and receives foundation and individual support to underwrite exhibitions, workshops, and free/low-cost public programming.
