About HOUSTON VA RESEARCH & EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Houston VA Research & Education Foundation (HVAREF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to support the research and education programs of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. The foundation serves as a flexible industry- and donor-facing funding and administrative vehicle to accept and manage research awards, industry-sponsored trials, and educational program funds on behalf of VA investigators. HVAREF is an active partner in the Houston VA research ecosystem and works closely with VA Houston leadership and academic affiliates to negotiate industry agreements, administer study funds, and sustain research infrastructure. In recent years HVAREF has continued to process industry contracts, secure awarded service agreements, and participate in national research-funder networks, maintaining its role as the local nonprofit conduit for clinical and translational research at MEDVAMC.
