About JACKSONVILLE HUMANE SOCIETY

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) is a local, independent 501(c)(3) no-kill animal shelter based in Jacksonville, Florida that operates an adoption center, a Pet Help Center, mobile veterinary services and community education programs. JHS works in partnership with the city’s municipal animal control division to increase lifesaving and to advance a city- and state-level no-kill agenda. JHS also founded and operates the Florida Leaders in Lifesaving initiative, a statewide program that provides mentorship, training and collaborative events for shelters and clinics across Florida to increase lifesaving outcomes. In recent years the organization has expanded community-facing programs — including mobile veterinary services and statewide adoption initiatives — and publishes audited financials and annual reports on its website.

Notable achievements

Petco Love Investment

Secured a major multi-year investment from Petco Love to fund Florida Leaders in Lifesaving, enabling statewide mentorship, training, and capacity-building for Florida shelters.

Statewide Mega Adoption Event

Led and facilitated the Petco Love Florida Mega adoption event that brought together shelters across the state and placed a large number of dogs and cats into homes through coordinated statewide adoptions.

Mobile Veterinary Services

Developed and operates an on-the-road mobile veterinary clinic to serve under-resourced communities, increasing access to spay/neuter and basic veterinary care for vulnerable pet owners.
