About INTERNATIONAL CYTOKINE AND INTERFERON SOCIETY INC

The International Cytokine & Interferon Society (ICIS) is a member-driven 501(c)(3) scientific society focused on advancing research into cytokines, interferons, chemokines and related growth factors. The Society brings together academic, government and industry scientists and clinicians to accelerate basic, translational and clinical discoveries that impact cancer, autoimmunity, infectious disease and inflammation.

ICIS operates as a virtual office and delivers its mission through an active program of international annual meetings (the Cytokines series), member communications, awards and trainee support. The organization reports an active membership in the roughly one-thousand+ range and maintains an established program of travel awards, trainee prizes and recognition of scientific excellence to support career development in the field.

Named trainee travel award (Joan Oefner)

Launched and endowed a named Student/Postdoc travel award in honor of long‑time Managing Director Joan Oefner (announced 2024/established for awards in 2024–2025), expanding support for early-career researchers to attend the Society’s annual meeting.

Membership and program growth

Expanded and sustained an international membership community of roughly one thousand+ scientists and physicians and broadened industry sponsorship and award endowments to increase trainee support and funded programming.
