About JACKSONVILLE PUBLIC EDUCATION FUND INC

The Jacksonville Public Education Fund (JPEF) is an independent local education fund and think-and-do tank serving Duval County (Jacksonville), Florida. JPEF combines research, community engagement, and advocacy to advance policies and practices that improve K–12 public schools and student outcomes. JPEF operates educator- and school-focused initiatives (including Teacher Leadership and School Leadership programs), parent and youth engagement programs, research and policy briefs, and community advocacy — all aimed at increasing educator capacity, amplifying student and parent voice, and mobilizing civic support for public schools in Duval County.

Notable achievements

Teacher Leadership Initiative launched and scaled

Implemented a year-long Teacher Leadership Initiative that convenes cohorts of high-performing teachers to pursue action-research and classroom innovation; internal evaluations and site materials report strong participant outcomes (including high satisfaction and reported increases in capacity to support students and school climate).

Progress on '1000 by 2025' diverse teacher recruitment

Co-led the '1000 by 2025' effort with district partners to recruit and retain Black and Latino male teachers in Duval County; JPEF-backed reporting and impact materials document measurable increases in hires and growth in this teacher demographic since the initiative began.

Community engagement on local school funding

Facilitated public forums, voter education events, and advocacy nights around the Duval County 1-mill school property tax (including forums and outreach leading up to renewal discussions in 2026), providing nonpartisan information and a public convening space for stakeholders.
