About FLORIDA ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS FOUNDATION INC

Established in 1988, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (FAFP Foundation) is the charitable arm of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP). It was created to support the development of family medicine in Florida through philanthropy and program funding. The Foundation funds education, research, scholarships, and community outreach and manages continuing medical education (CME) activities and the FAFP Continuing Professional Development (CPD) functions in coordination with FAFP staff. It routinely supports student and resident engagement efforts, grant-funded learning collaboratives, and awards for outstanding learners and clinicians. In recent years the Foundation has continued its scholarship and resident-support programs (including the long-running Exceptional Resident Scholar award), launched a “Paying It Forward” program to subsidize resident participation in FAFP meetings, and received an ABFM seed grant (February 2025) to support a FAFP learning collaborative and related program evaluation work.
