About FRESH MINISTRIES INC

FreshMinistries is a faith-rooted, donor-facing nonprofit headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, founded in 1989 by the Rev. Dr. Robert V. Lee III. It runs local programs that combine education, workforce training, business incubation, counseling, and sustainable food production to help low-income neighbors move out of poverty. The organization operates the Weaver Center and related initiatives—including the Beaver Street Enterprise Center, LifePoint Career Institute, FreshFutures, FreshPath, and the NativeFresh aquaponics greenhouse—and extends its model internationally through Be The Change International and the Desmond Tutu Programme.

In 2024 FreshMinistries rebuilt its NativeFresh greenhouse as an off-grid, solar-powered aquaponics operation and operates a USDA GAP-certified aquaponics farm that doubles as a training hub for growers and partners.

Beaver Street Enterprise Center — business incubation

The Beaver Street Enterprise Center is a long-running neighborhood business incubator that has helped launch more than 750 businesses and was nationally recognized as Business Incubator of the Year (2010).

Local impact and reach

FreshMinistries reports serving 4,000+ neighbors each year, reaching more than 70 schools, and operating workforce and youth programs (FreshFutures, FreshPath, LifePoint) that provide paid work experience, certifications, mentoring, and pathways to employment.
