About DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF JACKSONVILLE INC

The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville (DSAJ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. The organization provides education, family support from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood, therapy referrals, scholarships and employment services designed to increase independence and community inclusion. DSAJ runs signature community programs including its Inclusion Solutions training and scholarship program, a Career Solutions / employment services pathway, therapy partner networks, and large annual fundraisers such as the Buddy Walk and a charity golf classic. In recent years the organization has undergone leadership transition (founding leader Debbie Revels stepped down in January 2025 and an interim director was named; the organization’s About page lists Scott Fletcher as Chief Executive Officer) while continuing regular events, family services, and workforce placement activities.

Notable achievements

Longstanding regional service

Founded by local families in 1989, DSAJ has grown into the primary regional resource for families in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia, serving a membership community of more than 1,500 individuals, families and community supporters.

Signature fundraising and awareness events

DSAJ’s Buddy Walk and annual Charity Golf Classic have become major community events; the organization reports six-figure fundraising results from its golf fundraiser in recent years, and the Buddy Walk draws large community participation and visibility.

Employment and inclusion impact

Through its Career Solutions/Employment Services, DSAJ has connected people with Down syndrome to multiple community employers and partners, expanding paid-work opportunities and employer engagement in the region.
