COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS OF JACKSONVILLE

Communities In Schools of Jacksonville is a local, donor-facing 501(c)(3) nonprofit that places full-time site coordinators, literacy tutors, and afterschool staff directly inside Duval County Public Schools to provide wraparound services for K–12 students. The organization focuses on case management, intensive literacy interventions, afterschool enrichment, and workforce-readiness activities to remove barriers to learning such as hunger, homelessness, chronic absenteeism, and unmet mental-health needs. Founded in 1989 and operating since 1990, CIS Jax reports serving thousands of Duval County students each year and has helped more than 111,000 individual students over its multi-decade history.
