About JACKSONVILLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC

The Jacksonville Historical Society, doing business as the Jacksonville History Center, is the city’s leading institution for preserving and sharing Jacksonville’s history through public programs, exhibitions, archives, and educational initiatives. Founded in 1929, the organization collects, preserves, and interprets photographs, documents, and artifacts that tell the story of Jacksonville and its diverse communities. In recent years the organization has expanded its public footprint by developing a downtown campus and renovating the historic Florida Casket Company building to house museum exhibits, performance and event space, and the Archive of Jacksonville History. The History Center offers speaker series, tours, school and family programming, and research services that serve residents and visitors across age groups and neighborhoods.
