The Globeville, Elyria-Swansea Coalition organizes neighbors to build collective power and to prevent displacement by providing and preserving affordable housing in perpetuity. The organization organizes for health and housing justice through collective neighborhood leadership and stewardship of community-owned housing, green, and commercial spaces.

About GES COALITION INC

GES Coalition (Globeville, Elyria–Swansea Coalition) is a neighbor-led nonprofit based in Denver that organizes residents of the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods to resist displacement and advance community ownership of land and housing. The organization runs organizing, tenant advocacy, and community land trust activities focused on housing stability, health equity, and environmentally just development. In recent years GES has transitioned from fiscal sponsorship to an independent 501(c)(3) (2024), acquired land for community projects (including a food forest site), advanced the Triangle neighborhood development vision (Triangle Vision, 2023), and expanded membership, staff, and governance to deepen resident-directed decision-making (2024–2025). GES continues tenant organizing, land stewardship, and collaborative development to preserve affordability and build local power.

Notable achievements

Seed funding to launch community land trust

Secured multi-million dollar seed funding (including $2M from CDOT and additional City of Denver support) to create the GES Community Land Trust and begin acquiring housing and land for community ownership.

First land trust homes and local development wins

Completed acquisition of the first community land trust homes (2020) and later purchased additional land (2024) to develop community assets such as a food forest and commercial space controlled by Tierra Colectiva.

Independent nonprofit status and organizational growth

Became an independent 501(c)(3) in 2024, formalized member-elected governance, expanded staff and board capacity, and leveraged major foundation support to advance neighborhood-scale development plans.
