About CARTOON ART MUSEUM OF CALIFORNIA
Founded in 1984 and based in San Francisco, the Cartoon Art Museum is a nonprofit educational museum dedicated to the preservation, study, and public presentation of cartoon art in all its forms — from comic strips and graphic novels to animation and political cartoons. The museum maintains a substantial permanent collection and presents rotating exhibitions, artist events, workshops, and youth programs that connect professional cartoonists with the public.
The museum operates a public gallery space (current location at 781 Beach Street), an education program that includes classes and seasonal Cartoon Camps, and a research collection of original art. In recent years the museum has continued an active exhibition schedule and community programming, including shows and educational offerings across 2023–2025 and ongoing camps and workshops into 2026.
