Mission

History. Alive. The museum exists to connect the community to the history of the San Ramon Valley. It provides the context for that history, helps residents understand how that history is important to them, and brings that history alive for them. The museum collects and preserves important artifacts and stories that represent the history of the Valley, recognizes and represents the growing diversity in the community, and ensures the story of all residents is collected and preserved for future generations.

About MUSEUM OF THE SAN RAMON VALLEY

The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is a community history museum housed in the restored 1891 Southern Pacific Depot in downtown Danville. It preserves local artifacts and archival material that document the cultural, environmental and institutional history of the San Ramon Valley. The museum runs ongoing educational programming — including school field trips, the One Room School and First Peoples programs, monthly virtual talks, rotating and permanent exhibits, docent-led walking tours, and community events — to bring local history to learners of all ages. The organization operates as an active community partner with the Town of Danville (serving as the town’s official Visitor Information Center), and in recent years has continued and expanded public-facing programs and events that have drawn hundreds of attendees and extended the museum’s virtual reach.
