About Resource Renewal Institute

Resource Renewal Institute (RRI) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1985 that advances science‑informed solutions to complex environmental challenges, with a focus on public lands, working landscapes, and marine and freshwater ecosystems. RRI acts as a think‑and‑do tank: it runs flagship projects, provides fiscal sponsorship, pursues policy advocacy, and partners with government and community groups to deliver measurable conservation outcomes. The organization maintains an active donor‑facing web presence and accepts philanthropic support (Tax ID/ E.I.N. 68‑0038012).

RRI helped catalyze a $2.7 million award from the California Wildlife Conservation Board on August 28, 2025 to advance ecological restoration work across Point Reyes National Seashore; on April 2026 RRI reported on-the-ground restoration activity following a settlement to restore approximately 17,000 acres.

Fish in the Fields program recognized by USDA SARE

RRI’s Fish in the Fields™ initiative, which integrates rice farming and aquaculture to reduce methane and support biodiversity, was featured by the USDA Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program in November 2025 for demonstrating substantial potential greenhouse gas reductions.
