About MARIN COUNTY LIBRARY FOUNDATION

The Marin County Library Foundation (MCLF) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises private funds to supplement public support for the Marin County Free Library system. It focuses on strengthening library facilities, advancing early literacy and educational equity, developing leadership and staff capacity, and expanding access to technology across Marin County.

MCLF funds a mix of programmatic and capital needs for the library system, including early-learning kits, third-grade literacy initiatives, the Conscious Kids Book Kits (resources for conversations about race and inclusion), support for Marin City–Sausalito school district libraries, the Anne T. Kent California Room, and the Marin County Poet Laureate program. The foundation works in partnership with local organizations and funders to target resources toward underserved communities and measurable literacy outcomes.

The organization maintains an active donor-facing web presence and has documented recent activity over the past 2–3 years focused on expanding child- and family-centered literacy resources and supporting library facility and technology needs countywide.
