About AMERICAN BACH SOLOISTS

American Bach Soloists (ABS) is a San Francisco–based professional ensemble founded in 1989 that presents historically informed performances of Baroque, Classical, and Early Romantic repertoire with a particular emphasis on the works of J. S. Bach. The organization presents a multi-venue subscription season across the Bay Area (including San Francisco, Berkeley, Belvedere, and Davis), a summer festival, and an education/training program for emerging early-music performers.

In recent seasons (including the 2024–2025 season, ABS’s 36th), the ensemble has continued daytime and evening programs, holiday traditions such as its long-running performances of Handel’s Messiah at Grace Cathedral, and touring/guest appearances; it also operates the American Bach Soloists Academy (a professional training program for conservatory-level singers and instrumentalists). The organization maintains an active recording and media presence, offering filmed performances and recorded releases to extend its audience beyond live concerts.
