About MEMORIAL HERMANN COMMUNITY BENEFIT CORPORATION
Memorial Hermann Community Benefit Corporation (CBC) is the community-health arm of the Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, TX. CBC designs, funds and operates community-based programs—including school-based health centers, community resource centers, mobile maternal-child services and initiatives addressing food and physical activity—to expand access to care and address social determinants of health across Greater Houston.
CBC partners with school districts, community clinics, government agencies and local organizations to test and measure evidence-based solutions focused on access to care, emotional well-being, food as health, and exercise as medicine. Its work emphasizes services for uninsured and underinsured individuals, prevention and chronic-disease management, maternal and infant health, and behavioral health supports.
CBC publishes regular community benefit reports and annual program summaries describing program reach, outcomes, and system-level community benefit investments, and distributes services both on-site at schools and hospitals and via mobile and neighborhood-based access points.
Notable achievements
Substantial community benefit investment (FY25)
In Fiscal Year 2025 the Memorial Hermann system reported hundreds of millions in charity care and community benefits system-wide, reflecting CBC’s role in delivering and coordinating large-scale community health investments across the region.
School-based health network
Operates a long-running Health Centers for Schools program (established in 1996) that runs year-round clinical, dental and mental-health services across multiple school-based sites and mobile dental clinics, providing care regardless of insurance status and reducing barriers to access for children and families.
Community Resource & mobile maternal programs
Developed and expanded Community Resource Centers, a Mom & Baby Mobile Health Center, neighborhood health centers and community health worker programs that connect families to benefits, food resources, chronic-care support and social services.
