About HUNGER FREE COLORADO

Hunger Free Colorado is a statewide nonprofit that helps Coloradans access nutritious, culturally relevant food by combining direct client services (including a statewide multilingual Food Resource Hotline and mobile outreach) with policy advocacy and community organizing. ([hungerfreecolorado.org](https://hungerfreecolorado.org/))

Founded in 2009, the organization has driven major statewide policy and program wins and expanded direct assistance in recent years — leading the coalition that passed Healthy School Meals for All (Proposition FF) and helping families secure substantial SNAP benefits while growing client services to tens of thousands of households. Notable achievements

Passage of Healthy School Meals for All (Proposition FF)

Led a statewide coalition that secured voter approval of Proposition FF (November 2022) to establish the Healthy School Meals for All program; supported implementation so school food authorities could provide free meals to all public school students beginning in the 2023–24 school year. ([hungerfreecolorado.org](https://hungerfreecolorado.org/past-initiatives/?utm_source=openai))

Secured $180M+ in SNAP benefits (2020–2024)

Through outreach, enrollment assistance and policy work, the organization reports helping Coloradans secure more than $180 million in SNAP benefits between 2020 and 2024. ([hungerfreecolorado.org](https://hungerfreecolorado.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/24-HFC-15-Year-Anniversary-Report-LR.pdf))

Expanded direct assistance and SNAP outreach

Grew direct client assistance substantially (from roughly 5,000 households in 2018 to over 25,000 households by 2023), built the SNAP PEAS partner network and funded local outreach efforts to increase enrollment and access across the state.
