THE BEACON OF DOWNTOWN HOUSTON

The Beacon of Downtown Houston (EIN 71-0933434) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves people experiencing homelessness through a centralized Day Center, housing case management, civil legal aid (Beacon Law), counseling and mentoring, and targeted programs for specific populations (including Brigid’s Hope, a reentry support program). The Beacon operates as an outreach ministry founded in partnership with Christ Church Cathedral while maintaining an independent board and audited financial statements.

The Beacon’s Day Center provides daily essentials (meals, showers, laundry) and intake/access services that connect guests to housing and supportive resources through coordinated access and diversion models. In recent years the organization has expanded its housing-focused case management and legal services to reduce barriers to stable housing and to increase exits from homelessness into permanent solutions.

The organization operates at scale for a local homeless services provider, with multi-million-dollar annual revenues and the majority of spending directed to program services; it continues to receive public and private grants and to partner with city and county systems to deliver diversion and access-point services.
