About Joan and Stanford Alexander Jewish Family Service (Alexander JFS)

Alexander Jewish Family Service (Alexander JFS) is a Houston-based nonprofit social services agency founded in the early 20th century that provides behavioral health, case management, disability supports, career and employment services, chaplaincy and community education. The agency serves people of all faiths and backgrounds while remaining rooted in Jewish values and a long-standing partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston. Alexander JFS operates a campus model of care (4131 S. Braeswood Blvd.) and a family of programs — including Celebration Company (an employment program for adults with disabilities), a Career & Employment Center, and a broad Behavioral & Mental Health Services program — that collectively report thousands of therapy sessions and tens of thousands of people served annually. In recent years the organization has emphasized expansion of disability employment services, mental-health access, and disaster/flood assistance and community outreach.
