About CENTER FOR PURSUIT (Pursuit Center)
CENTER FOR PURSUIT (doing business as Pursuit Center) is a Houston-based nonprofit founded in 1950 that provides residential, vocational, day-program, employment, and integrated health services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism. The organization operates a purpose-built campus and multiple residential homes and employment supports designed to increase independence and community participation.
In recent years Pursuit Center significantly expanded its clinical and community partnerships, opened a new Harrisburg Boulevard campus (2023), and broadened on-campus healthcare access through collaborations with medical partners. The organization serves roughly 100–125 adults through a combination of home & community-based services, day habilitation and vocational programs, and continues to operate as an active, donor-facing 501(c)(3).
Notable achievements
New Harrisburg campus opened
Completed and opened a purpose-built campus at 4400 Harrisburg Boulevard (campus opening in 2023) offering integrated day programs, health and wellness, employment services, and accessible spaces designed for adults with IDD.
Established Transition Medicine clinic partnership
Partnered with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital to host a Transition Medicine clinic on-site, improving access to coordinated adolescent-to-adult medical care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Expanded health and community partnerships
Added specialized clinical and community partners (including specialized dental services and local IDD organizations) in 2023–2024 to strengthen on-campus healthcare, therapeutic, and community-integration services.
