About COLORADO PERINATAL CARE QUALITY COLLABORATIVE
The Colorado Perinatal Care Quality Collaborative (CPCQC) is Colorado’s statewide maternal and infant quality collaborative. It partners with hospitals, clinical teams, state health agencies, insurers, community organizations, families with lived experience, and national experts to implement evidence-based quality improvement focused on preventing maternal and infant death and injury. CPCQC operates as a donor-facing 501(c)(3) that provides technical assistance, data infrastructure, coaching, and statewide program coordination. In recent years the organization has expanded statewide initiatives (including substance-use screening and response, postpartum care improvement, safe-sleep education, and perinatal behavioral health) and was designated by Colorado statute to lead statewide perinatal quality efforts under SB24-175.
Notable achievements
Designated state perinatal quality collaborative
Named by Colorado legislation (SB24-175, 2024) to lead statewide coordination and accountability for perinatal quality improvement, with requirements for hospital participation and strengthened data reporting to reduce maternal and infant mortality and address inequities.
Broad hospital reach across Colorado
Partners with the majority of Colorado birthing hospitals (approximately 45 of 50 hospitals), covering roughly 87% of Colorado births, enabling system-level change and measurement across most delivery settings in the state.
Launched new statewide initiatives (2024–2026)
Expanded programming in the last two to three years including IMPACT BH (perinatal behavioral health in rural counties), SPARK (postpartum access, recovery, and knowledge launched July 2025), and NEST (Newborn Evidence-based Sleep Teaching launched January 2026) to address postpartum care gaps, substance-exposed newborns, and safe sleep to reduce preventable infant and maternal harms.
