About Denver School of the Arts Friends Foundation
The Denver School of the Arts Friends Foundation (DSA Friends Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded to serve as the primary fundraising and outreach arm for Denver School of the Arts (a public arts magnet serving grades 6–12).
The foundation raises and directs private funds to sustain DSA’s conservatory-style arts curriculum and campus needs that are not covered by district funding, including guest artists, student scholarships, department materials, capital improvements, and equity initiatives.
In recent years the foundation has expanded its annual campaigns, scholarship programs, and outreach events to increase access and support for DSA’s ~1,000+ student body and the broader Denver arts community.
Notable achievements
Established fundraising arm (since 1989)
Originally organized as Friends of DSA in 1989, the foundation has been the long‑term financial supporter of DSA’s founding conservatory model and signature programs.
Sustained Guest Artist program
Maintained a continuous Visiting/Guest Artist program that brings professional artists into classrooms to enrich curriculum and career pathways for students.
Significant recent fundraising and grant support
In the last several years the foundation has directed substantial annual campaign proceeds and grant revenue to scholarships, department funding, and capital needs to sustain and expand the school’s offerings.
