About FOUNDATION FOR CREATIVE EXPRESSION
The Foundation for Creative Expression (FFCE) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 74-3198671) that supports and operates cultural projects preserving the literary and counterculture history of the Bay Area. FFCE is the legal entity behind projects such as The Beat Museum and the Counterculture Museum (a DBA/project of FFCE) and maintains collecting, exhibition, and educational activities related to mid-20th-century arts and social movements. This profile was prepared after verifying the EIN and filings against public nonprofit records and organizational profiles; FFCE files annual Form 990s and is active in fundraising, collections development, and museum programming. In the last 2–3 years the organization has expanded its public-facing activity by signing a lease and developing the Counterculture Museum in Haight-Ashbury, managing a seismic retrofit and temporary closure plan for The Beat Museum, and acquiring notable counterculture materials for public display and education. FFCE focuses on preserving archival materials and ephemera, hosting exhibits and events, and supporting educational visits and community programming that highlight creative expression, social activism, and the history of the Beat and broader counterculture movements.
