CENTER FOR HEARING AND SPEECH (dba Texas Hearing Institute)

The Center for Hearing and Speech (doing business as Texas Hearing Institute) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides comprehensive pediatric hearing services, speech-language therapy, family support, and an early childhood school for children with hearing loss. Its Melinda Webb School offers intensive auditory-oral early learning (ages 18 months–6 years) designed to accelerate spoken language, listening, and literacy so students can transition to mainstream classrooms. The organization operates a full audiology clinic (including newborn screening, hearing aid and cochlear implant support), speech therapy services through age 21, youth programs, and family education, delivering services on a sliding-fee scale and through fundraising-supported scholarships. Texas Hearing Institute serves families across dozens of Texas counties and maintains partnerships and training programs with clinical and educational partners to expand reach and clinical capacity. In recent years the organization has continued fundraising (annual gala and grants), maintained enrollment at the Melinda Webb School (2023–24 enrollment materials and programming), and sustained community partnerships (including United Way and a collaboration with Texas Children’s Hospital) to broaden access to hearing technology and early intervention services.
