About Baytown Little Theater Inc

Baytown Little Theater (BLT) is an incorporated, all-volunteer nonprofit community theater founded in 1961 that produces seasonal comedy, dramatic and musical productions for the Baytown/Houston area. The organization operates through membership dues, ticket sales, donations and local sponsorships and stages work both at its downtown Baytown venue and at nearby performance spaces such as the Lee College Performing Arts Center.

BLT maintains active programming (including multiple productions each season), auditions and a youth-theater program that engages local students and volunteers. In recent years the company has continued regular seasons and community partnerships, mounting shows and auditions through 2024–2026 and maintaining an active events calendar and volunteer base.

Notable achievements

Decades-long continuous operation

Established in 1961, BLT has operated for more than 60 years as a persistent cultural institution in Baytown, producing regular seasons and sustaining community membership and volunteer participation across generations.

Local venue ownership and recovery efforts

Historically the group purchased and renovated an old market building for performance use and, after a major 2007 incident damaged the old theater site, successfully adapted by staging productions at alternate local venues and continuing scheduled programming.

Sustained seasonal programming and youth engagement

BLT has continued to present multiple mainstage productions per season and operates a youth theater program that provides performance and training opportunities for area students, keeping active audition schedules and partnerships with local institutions (e.g., Lee College) in the last several years.
