About John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science (The Health Museum)

The John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science (commonly branded as The Health Museum) is an interactive, donor-facing science museum in Houston’s Museum District that focuses on health, medical science and human biology. It operates as a member institution of the Texas Medical Center and presents hands-on exhibits, public programs, camps and school outreach to engage learners of all ages. The museum maintains permanent offerings such as the Amazing Body Gallery and the bilingual DeBakey Cell Lab, and it hosts rotating national and traveling exhibitions that translate current medical research into public-facing experiences. The Health Museum runs extensive school programs, community partnerships and signature youth initiatives that align with curriculum standards and career pathways in health fields. In recent years the museum has expanded its community reach through targeted field trips, summer camps, public dissections and large-scale traveling exhibits (including a multi-partner cancer exhibition presented with MD Anderson and produced with the National Cancer Institute), while sustaining fundraising and membership activity to support operations and program growth.
