About WESLEY RANKIN COMMUNITY CENTER INC

Wesley-Rankin Community Center (WRCC) is a long-established, faith-rooted community organization serving West Dallas that provides multigenerational programs focused on education, family support, and economic opportunity. The center traces its history to settlement-house work beginning in 1902 and the Rankin mission established in 1935; today it operates early childhood education, after-school and youth workforce-preparation programs, adult education (GED/ESL), and community stabilization initiatives. In the last several years WRCC has expanded partnerships and received foundation support to strengthen early childhood programming, academic remediation for children with learning differences, workforce-readiness training for youth, and neighborhood preservation efforts in West Dallas.

Notable achievements

Over a century of continuous service

WRCC builds on settlement-house origins dating to 1902 and the Rankin mission of 1935, maintaining continuous community-facing programming in West Dallas for more than 100 years.

Expanded educational programs and Head Start preparations

In recent years the center has deepened early childhood and academic-support offerings (including Head Start/Montessori approaches and a Scholars program for children with dyslexia or learning differences) to improve school readiness and reading/math outcomes for local children.

Major philanthropic support and facility improvements (2022–2024)

WRCC received multi-source grants and philanthropic awards in 2022–2024 to strengthen education and family services, and partnered with local foundations and sports-charity programs to fund facility upgrades such as a new playground and program expansions.
