About DALLAS THEATER CENTER
Dallas Theater Center (DTC) is a major regional, professional nonprofit theater founded in 1959 and based in Dallas, Texas. It produces a year-round subscription season of classics, new plays, and musicals presented at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre and the historic Kalita Humphreys Theater, and maintains a Diane and Hal Brierley Resident Acting Company.
DTC operates an extensive Public Works / education program that includes Project Discovery, SummerStage, NextStage, free community workshops, and an annual community pageant. The organization serves tens of thousands of North Texas residents annually and positions itself as a civic arts leader focused on artistic excellence, inclusion, and community engagement.

Regional Theatre Tony Award (2017)
Recipient of the 2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award in recognition of sustained artistic excellence, community engagement, and contributions to American theatre.
Project Discovery national award
Project Discovery, DTC’s flagship education initiative, received the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award (a White House–administered national honor) for its impact on K–12 students.
Public Works community participation
Launched Public Works Dallas to stage large-scale participatory pageants; productions routinely feature more than 200 community members and include free community performances (for example, a free Public Works performance in July 2024).
