About YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF GREATER FORT WORTH INC (DBA Fort Worth Youth Orchestra)

The Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth Inc., doing business as the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra (FWYO), is a long-established 501(c)(3) youth music education organization based in Fort Worth, Texas. FWYO provides sequential music education and ensemble training—from early childhood music and Suzuki strings through chamber groups, wind and jazz ensembles, and four graded orchestras—aimed at developing musicianship, performance skills, and leadership in area youth. FWYO serves a substantial regional student body (approximately 400–500 students annually) and maintains an active performance calendar including major local venues and periodic international tours. In the last three years FWYO completed an international tour to Spain (June 2024), launched a dedicated youth jazz program (2024) with an inaugural concert at the Kimbell, and continued regular collaborations and side-by-side performances with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra while celebrating its 59th–60th seasons and expanding financial aid to increase access to its programs.

Notable achievements

International Tour to Spain (June 2024)

FWYO’s top Youth Orchestra completed a multi-city performance tour to Spain (June 6–16, 2024), its 15th international tour, presenting concerts in several Spanish cities and serving as musical ambassadors while showcasing student artistry on an international stage.

Launch of FWYO Jazz & Inaugural Concert (2024)

FWYO launched a youth jazz program in 2024 under the direction of Ken Ebo and presented an inaugural jazz performance at a prominent local venue, expanding the organization’s curricular offerings beyond classical orchestral training.

Sustained scale and programmatic reach

FWYO operates multiple ensemble levels and related programs (Early Childhood, Suzuki, Chamber, Wind, Jazz, Jr. and Senior orchestras), serving roughly 400–500 students each year and providing financial aid tiers to increase accessibility for underrepresented and low-income families.
