About AMIGOS LIBRARY SERVICES

Amigos Library Services is a member-based 501(c)(3) organization that provides cooperative programs and infrastructure to public, academic, school, and special libraries. It operates as a national consortia and membership organization headquartered in Addison, Texas, with additional operations supporting libraries across the United States. Amigos delivers a mix of resource-sharing and operational services — including courier (Trans‑Amigos Express), group purchasing/discount programs, continuing education, SimplyE hosting, and association management — and reports measurable outputs such as hundreds of participating libraries, hundreds of thousands of couriered interlibrary items, and thousands of continuing-education attendees. In recent years Amigos finalized a strategic plan through 2025, implemented a revised, more-equitable membership fee scale, expanded its SimplyE and consortium hosting work, and continued to introduce member benefits (including Benchmark: Library Metrics & Trends in 2026) while maintaining an active schedule of training and conferences.

Notable achievements

High-volume resource sharing and courier service

Amigos' Trans‑Amigos Express shipped over 268,000 library items in the 2021–22 membership year and supported statewide courier partnerships (TExpress) serving over 200 Texas libraries, demonstrating large-scale, cost-saving interlibrary loan logistics for members.

Expansion of digital lending & consortia

Amigos hosts SimplyE services for 180+ libraries and supported growth of Missouri Libraries 2 Go to 109 public libraries sharing a collective catalog of tens of thousands of ebooks and audiobooks, expanding digital access across member systems.

Broad continuing education reach

Amigos delivered extensive professional development across topical conferences, Know & Go sessions, and customized trainings, attracting over 4,700 registered attendees and convening Community Conversations that drew 400 leaders from roughly 180 member libraries in 2021–22.
