About Equest

Equest is a Dallas-based nonprofit that delivers equine-assisted activities and therapies for children, adults, and veterans with physical, cognitive, emotional, and learning differences. Programs include therapeutic horsemanship, physical and occupational therapy using the horse's movement, equine-assisted counseling, literacy outreach, interactive vaulting, and corporate team-building. Equest operates as a PATH Intl. education and programming center and maintains a large therapeutic facility through a partnership with the City of Dallas at the Texas Horse Park. In recent years Equest has served roughly 700–900 unduplicated clients annually (over 846 in 2024) and delivered thousands of service hours each year, including a substantial veterans program offered at no cost to eligible veterans and first responders.

Hooves for Heroes veterans program

Equest’s Hooves for Heroes provides equine-assisted services, counseling, and specialty classes to veterans and first responders, serving several hundred veterans in a single year and offering services at no cost to eligible participants.

Facility partnership and growth

Equest occupies significant acreage at the Texas Horse Park through a long-term partnership with the City of Dallas and has grown into one of the region’s largest therapeutic horsemanship centers.
