TEXAS TREES FOUNDATION

Texas Trees Foundation is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (founded 1982) that advances urban forestry across North Texas by planting trees, providing education, and delivering data-driven planning and design for healthier public spaces. The organization operates programs including tree plantings and distributions, the Cool Schools environmental education program, a Green Jobs/urban forestry workforce program, the TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm, and consulting/urban forest master planning services. In recent years TTF has expanded partnerships with municipal and regional partners and led the Southwestern Medical District (SWMD) urban streetscape and park transformation initiative to address heat, access to nature, and equity in Dallas.

The foundation publishes annual reports and research (tree canopy analyses, heat-mapping, and equity planting plans) used by cities and community groups to prioritize plantings and measure outcomes. TTF’s recent annual reports (2023–2025) document sustained planting and distribution activity, expanded education and workforce work, and growing collaboration with public-sector partners. The organization positions trees as low-cost climate, public-health, and stormwater solutions that benefit neighborhoods, schools, and healthcare campuses.
