About RAPE CRISIS CENTER OF COLLIN COUNTY

Rape Crisis Center of Collin County (d/b/a The Turning Point) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Plano, Texas, that provides crisis intervention, counseling, forensic medical support, education, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence across Collin County and the North Texas region. The organization operates a 24/7 sexual assault crisis response and offers trauma-informed counseling and long-term support services. The Turning Point operates a forensic nursing program and a community-based forensic clinic (Courtney’s SAFE Place) alongside partnerships with area hospitals and the county Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), delivering Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFE) and medical advocacy in a non-hospital setting. In recent years The Turning Point has continued to expand trauma-informed programming (including survivor wellness classes such as yoga and mindfulness), maintained its role in Collin County SART processes (2023–2024 reporting), and sustained clinic and advocacy services through a mix of philanthropic and public grants to support forensic exams, counseling, and hotline operations.

Notable achievements

Courtney’s SAFE Place (community forensic clinic)

Established an on-site, community-based forensic clinic to provide trauma-informed Sexual Assault Forensic Exams (SAFE) and evidence collection outside of emergency departments, increasing access to comfortable and confidential forensic care for adult survivors.

Forensic Nursing Program expansion

Built a SANE/forensic nursing program that delivers sexual assault forensic exams and medical advocacy in partnership with multiple hospitals and university clinics across the region, strengthening medical response capacity for survivors.

SART and community leadership

Served as a core partner in the Collin County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and secured public and private grant funding in recent years to sustain crisis response, advocacy, and counseling services.
