About Court Appointed Special Advocates of Denton County, Inc.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Denton County, Inc. is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that trains community volunteers who are appointed by the court to advocate for children removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers investigate and monitor each child’s circumstances, promote supports and resources, and make informed recommendations to the presiding judge about the child’s best interests. Founded as a local CASA program in the early 1990s, the organization is a member of the National CASA/GAL Association and Texas CASA, partners with local United Way organizations, and operates with paid staff who supervise and support volunteers across Denton County. In recent years CASA of Denton County has expanded its reach: it employs full-time staff, supports a volunteer network, and published annual impact reports showing rising demand for services in the community.
