About PARTNERSHIP FOR THE ADVANCEMENT & IMMERSION OF REFUGEES

Partnership for the Advancement & Immersion of Refugees (PAIR) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded at Rice University in 2007, that provides in-school and after-school educational mentoring, college-access programming, and leadership development for refugee middle and high school students. PAIR serves roughly 500 students annually and reports delivering more than 7,500 hours of mentoring; its programs emphasize English-language development, academic support, college persistence, and individualized mentorship to improve attendance, graduation, and postsecondary outcomes. In the last 2–3 years PAIR has published annual impact reports, served as a research partner with the University of Houston Education Research Center (producing a program support guide and policy brief), and continues to operate as a community-funded, donor-facing charity focused on measurable student outcomes.

From 2016 through 2025 PAIR-supported seniors have been awarded more than $3 million in postsecondary scholarships, demonstrating sustained college-access and financial-aid advising impact.
