TREES FOR HOUSTON

Trees For Houston is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in the early 1980s that grows, donates, plants, and maintains trees across the greater Houston area. The organization operates tree farms and community programs (including Trees for Schools and Trees for Texas) to deliver saplings and established trees to parks, schools, neighborhoods, and homeowners. In the last three years Trees For Houston has rapidly scaled operations: it opened the Kinder Campus (an on-site nursery and education center) in October 2023, increased annual planting rates from roughly 20,000 trees to well over 70,000–90,000 per season, and celebrated its 1,000,000th tree milestone in February 2026. The nonprofit pairs large-scale planting with follow-up maintenance and community education to increase canopy cover and heat mitigation in underserved neighborhoods.
