About AIDS FOUNDATION HOUSTON INC

AIDS Foundation Houston Inc (doing business as Allies in Hope) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1982 and is one of Texas’ longest-running HIV service organizations. In May 2023 the organization adopted the public name Allies in Hope to reduce stigma and broaden its reach while continuing its core mission to prevent HIV transmission and support people living with HIV.

Allies in Hope operates prevention and clinical services (including PrEP, nPEP, same-day PrEP and Rapid Start antiretroviral treatment), supportive and permanent housing programs, a community food pantry (Stone Soup), youth enrichment (Camp Hope), and targeted outreach to justice-involved and other prioritized populations. In recent years the organization has expanded clinic capacity and opened a Midtown facility while maintaining its Southwest location and continuing statewide prison outreach and reentry programming.

Notable achievements

Rebrand and strategic expansion (2023)

Transitioned from the legal name AIDS Foundation Houston to the public identity Allies in Hope (effective May 22, 2023) to reduce stigma and broaden community access while pursuing facility expansion and new donor engagement initiatives.

Broad service reach with measurable impact

In the most recent reporting period the organization served more than 6,000 community members across prevention, testing, clinical care, housing and food programs, including thousands receiving testing, PrEP or other health services.

Housing and youth program outcomes

Operates multiple permanent supportive housing programs that have housed hundreds of residents and runs Camp Hope, a long-standing summer program serving youth affected by HIV.
