About FotoFest, Inc.
FotoFest, Inc. is a Houston-based contemporary arts organization founded in 1983 by Frederick Baldwin and Wendy Watriss that advances photography and visual culture through exhibitions, publications, professional development, and education programs. In addition to year-round exhibitions and programs, FotoFest organizes a city-wide Biennial of photography and related events (central exhibitions, portfolio reviews, lectures, film programs, and a gala auction) and runs the Literacy Through Photography classroom program for K–12 students. In the last 2–3 years FotoFest produced the FotoFest Biennial 2024 (Critical Geography, March 9–April 21, 2024) and mounted Biennial 2026 (Global Visions — FotoFest at 40, March 7–May 10, 2026), while continuing its Meeting Place portfolio reviews and classroom education initiatives.

Literacy Through Photography (est. 1990)
FotoFest established a sustained K–12 Literacy Through Photography program that uses photography to strengthen student writing, comprehension, and creative expression and that has reached thousands of students through classroom partnerships and community projects.
