About BANGLADESH ASSOCIATION

Bangladesh Association (also known as Bangladesh Association, Houston) is a long-established 501(c)(3) community organization formed to preserve and promote Bengali culture, provide educational programs, and deliver charitable services to Bangladeshi and wider communities in the Greater Houston area. The organization traces its history to community student groups in the late 1970s and operates cultural, educational, volunteer and relief programs including Bangla language classes (Bangla Pathshala), a scholarship program, community support initiatives and a medical clinic.

In the last 2–3 years the Association has actively advanced the Bangladesh American Center (BAC) project: it hosted a major Gala on April 3, 2026 that brought together community leaders and donors and raised over $600,000 in a single night, enabling the organization to reach its final funding milestone for BAC construction. The Association continues regular programming, volunteer-driven community support, and public events to sustain cultural transmission and community services in the Houston–Pearland area.

Notable achievements

Historic Gala Fundraising (April 3, 2026)

Hosted a community Gala that attracted nearly 400 attendees and raised over $600,000 in one evening to advance the Bangladesh American Center project, completing the organization’s immediate fundraising milestone.

Bangladesh American Center Fully Funded

Secured the remaining funds needed for the Bangladesh American Center (BAC) after combining Gala proceeds with an already-arranged bridge loan, enabling the organization to proceed toward construction and one year of initial sustainability.

Decades of Cultural and Educational Programming

Maintained continuous community programming (language school, scholarships, cultural events, disaster-relief fundraising and a volunteer-run medical clinic) since its founding era, serving Bengali and broader communities in the Houston region.
