About HOUSTON FIRE MUSEUM INC
The Houston Fire Museum (Houston Fire Museum, Inc.) is a donor-facing 501(c)(3) museum organization that preserves the history and heritage of the Houston Fire Department and promotes fire- and life-safety education. The museum is housed in the historic Fire Station No. 7 (built 1898), a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a Texas historic landmark.
Founded in 1982, the museum maintains an artifact collection, rotating and permanent exhibits, and active education programs (guided tours, field trips, a Junior Firefighter interactive area, birthday parties and community events). After a multi-year preservation effort, the museum completed a $5.7 million building preservation and renovation project and reopened to the public on October 12, 2024; exhibits and programs were staged to highlight both the restored historic fabric and updated public-access features.
