About CHANNEL INDUSTRIES MUTUAL INC

Channel Industries Mutual Inc (commonly known as Channel Industries Mutual Aid or CIMA) is a nonprofit mutual-aid organization based in Deer Park, Texas that coordinates industrial firefighting, HAZMAT, rescue and medical support among petrochemical facilities, municipalities and government partners in the Houston Ship Channel region. CIMA operates as a membership network (industry, municipal and government members) that trains together, maintains shared specialized equipment and radio/command systems, and stages large-scale exercises to ensure rapid, coordinated response to industrial incidents and regional disasters. In recent years CIMA has been actively involved in regional emergency preparedness: it participated in large multi‑zone drills and was activated to support response and unified command during a major Shell Deer Park facility fire in May 2023, demonstrating its operational role in real incidents and ongoing collaboration with local emergency planning committees.
