About LONE STAR FLIGHT MUSEUM

Lone Star Flight Museum (LSFM) is a 501(c)(3) aviation museum and STEM learning center based at Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas. The museum preserves and displays historically significant aircraft and aviation artifacts while interpreting Texas aviation history through exhibits and the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame.

LSFM operates an active education program—including field trips, the Aviation Learning Center, Flight Academy, hands-on MAKER/STEM series, Youth Ambassadors, and Girls in Aviation events—and maintains a flying collection that provides warbird rides, simulators, and public flight experiences to engage visitors of all ages.

In recent years LSFM has expanded its STEM reach and public programming, reporting substantial student outreach through school- and community-focused initiatives and continuing to host public events and special exhibits that connect aviation history with STEM learning.

Large STEM reach

Reported serving over 20,700 students through STEM education programs in 2024, including classroom outreach, field trips, hands-on MAKER events, and targeted youth programs.

Operational flying collection

Maintains a collection of more than 40 historically significant aircraft and operates flight experiences, warbird rides, and flight simulators that support education and public engagement.

Expanded museum campus & exhibits

Developed a 130,000 sq ft museum campus at Ellington Airport (relocated from Galveston) and expanded the Aviation Learning Center and Texas Aviation Hall of Fame to strengthen STEM and history programming.
